Bushi is a traditional region in the eastern South Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lies along the Mitumba Mountains and includes parts of the administrative territories of Walungu, Kabare, Kalehe, and Mwenga, and Uvira surrounding but not including the city of Bukavu. There are around 4 million inhabitants in the region. The inhabitants of Bushi are the Shi people (Shi: ''Bashi'', singular: ''Mushi'') and their language is the Shi language (''Mashi''), a Central (Zone J) Bantu language.
